Bridal Shower

My friend and colleague, Miss Vincini, is getting married and on Saturday she has a 'Bridal Shower' which was organised for her by her sisters.  It was actually afternoon tea at her parent's house.  Her wedding is in the summer holiday and I will be attending that event as well.  My baby sister is getting married this year so I will be busy over the next few months.

English Department Christmas Do

This year the English Department decided to go for a meal together to The Mulberry in Attleborough.  Unfortunately, not everyone could come, but most of us were there.  It was a lovely meal and very cheap.  Mrs. McCullem was able to come despite being on maternity leave.  The mulled wine provided by the restaurant was a particularly good feature of the event...  I was not driving so I had two glasses!

My Car and TV Drama

I asked Year 12 Media to make mini-TV Dramas and this is what happened to my car!  One group was making a Sci Fi film and so they turned my car into a space ship... without me knowing!

Media Studies 6th Form Conference

On Friday I went with Mr Edwards and some of Year 12 to a Media Conference run by the English and Media Centre in London.  Mr Edwards did a lot of driving, which was not very nice for him, but the day as a whole was really beneficial.  Hopefully, we can go again next year. 

Holiday to WW1 Battlefields in France and Belgium

These are some photos of my holiday to the Somme and Ypres to see various battlefields, trenches, museums, cemetaries and monuments dedicated to WW1.  I teach the literature of the conflict to Year 12 so this is a period of history that I am very interested in.  The trip was therefore partly for research purposes.  I'm not a huge fan of beach holidays as I burn easily and get bored.

Art Course in the Summer Holidays 2011

What did you get up to in the holidays?  I went on a week long intensive course at Wensum Lodge.  It was on colour and painting, as aspect of art that was new to me.  My mum was on the course too as she paints as a hobby.  There were only 5 people on the course.  Alot of the time was spent doing exercises in combining colours to achieve effects.  The course began at 10.00am every day so I could still have a lie in, but was rather tiring as we worked in a very focused way.  I would certainly do another one.

Proms Concert - July 19th 2011

Here I am at a BBC Proms Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London.  I went because I've never been to proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall before and because Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring' was being performed which I like.  It was being filmed for a live broadcast on BBC 2 and BBC Radio 3, so there were cameras and microphones all over the place.  I had a good evening and would certainly go again.
